The brief was to create a level area for children’s play equipment set in a native garden complete with large sandstone boulders. It was decided to use log round posts to retain soil and eradicate the steep slope running from left to right and away from the house. The log round posts enable tight curves to be installed as well as encouraging a native theme and when set in concrete form a very long lasting solution. The lower circle area is totally flat and can be reached by the railway sleeper steps through drifts of native planting and sandstone boulders or via the steps set into the lawn itself. This garden has been totally transformed into a very useable space both for the client’s children and for the local wildlife through the planting of numerous native species.
