The brief for this garden was to make maximum use of the garage roof which sat unused in its previous form. After waterproofing the roof the area was paved and hardwood used to create formal seating for the owners who like to entertain. Planting in light-weight raised garden beds was used to screen and soften the look of the area.
Keeping materials simple is important in avoiding making small spaces feel cluttered. Decking was used in the lower section of this terraced garden to tie up with the timber seating in the upper area allowing us simultaneously to create inbuilt storage areas into the seatings.
Wall mounted and spike lights were used to extend the hours the garden can be enjoyed and really finished off this simple and functional yet stunning terraced garden in the heart of Sydney. |
